McLean residents are served by the Fairfax County Public Schools. There are two public high schools; Langley High School (6520 Georgetown Pike) and McLean High School (1633 Davidson Rd). A few of the larger middle and elementary public schools include Copper Middle (977 Balls Hills Rd) and Kent Gardens Elementary (1717 Melbourne Dr). There are also several private schools including The Madeira School (8328 Georgetown Pike) and The Potomac School (1301 Potomac SCH Rd). A variety of universities can be found within a 12 mile diameter; Marymount University (approximately 4miles) and George Washington University (approximately 10miles).
McLean has an abundance of recreation opportunities. Great Falls Park (9200 Old Dominion Drive) is a great place for outdoor recreation. This park provides amazing scenic views as well as activities such as whitewater rafting, kayaking, hiking, rock climbing and even guided tours. Nearby in Washington DC, the National Cherry Blossom Festival takes place. It is an annual event focusing on the arrival of spring. One of the largest malls in the area is the Tysons Corner Center, a great place that can fullfill all your shopping needs.
